The principle of dāna is fundamental in the Buddhist tradition and is based on the understanding of non-separateness of giver, gift, and recipient. It is based on an acknowledgement of interdepence.
This practice of generosity has sustained Dharma teachings for more than 2,500 years, since the time of the Buddha.
It enables teachings to be provided and supports teachers to continue teaching.
In contemporary times it is known as a gift-based economy.
To live according to the principle of dāna is to live in the flow of giving and receiving
It is not a transactional payment in exchange for an offering but rather a gesture of support that expresses value for that offering and contributes to the continuation of that offering in future
Gifting it forward so that others can partake in the offering
The open hand that offers support is also the open hand that can receive support
We each need to find our way in this dance of giving and receiving
Too much of one to the detriment of the other and we fall over
If you wish to support these offerings you can do so here
There's no correct or expected sum.
Thank you
